Ann Podoll (Fargo, ND) lost 6-5 to Kim Rhyme (St. Paul, MN) in the Final of the Dakota Challenger Spiel, held December 14 - 16, 2018 at the Dakota Curling Club in Lakeville, United States. To advance to the championship game, Podoll won 5-3 over Min Ji Kim (Chuncheon, KOR) in the semifinals   
 
Podoll finished 2-2 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Podoll lost 6-5 to Anya Normandeau (St. Paul, MN), then responded with a 5-4 win over Kimberly Wapola (St. Paul, MN). Podoll went on to lose 8-1 against Kim. Podoll responded with a 8-2 win over Jennalee Johnson (St. Paul, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Dakota Challenger Spiel, Podoll take home 7.260 world rankings points along with the $744CDN prize. Podoll move up 48 spots after posting a net gain of 6.816 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 183rd overall with 9.036 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Podoll ranks 173rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 7.260 points earned so far this season.
