To advance to the championship game, van Dorp won 8-4 over Robin Brydone (Perth, SCO) in the semifinals of the 2018 Dumfries Challenger Series in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada; and won 6-5 over Cameron Bryce (Skelleftea, SWE) in the quarterfinals. of the 2018 Dumfries Challenger Series in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada;
van Dorp finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, van Dorp lost 8-2 to Ross Whyte (Dumfries, SCO), then responded with a 10-5 win over Blair Haswell (Stranraer, SCO). van Dorp won 6-1 against Orrin Carson (Dumfries, SCO), then won 6-5 against Lottenbach in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Dumfries Challenger Series Championship title, van Dorp earned 17.849 world rankings points along with the $6,770CDN first prize cheque. van Dorp move up 3 spots after posting a net gain of 8.718 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 27th overall with 150.504 total points on the World Ranking Standings. van Dorp ranks 27th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 113.980 points earned so far this season.
