To advance to the championship game, Smith won 5-1 over Ty Dilello (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2018 Manitoba Curling Tour Classic in Winnipeg, Manitoba; and won 6-3 over Corey Chambers (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2018 Manitoba Curling Tour Classic in Winnipeg, Manitoba;
Smith finished 2-2 in the 14-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith lost 8-1 to David Bohn (Winnipeg, MB), then responded with a 1-0 win over JT Ryan (Winnipeg, MB). Smith went on to lose 1-0 against Bohn. Smith responded with a 7-6 win over Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Manitoba Curling Tour Classic Championship title, Smith earned 26.733 world rankings points along with the $1,800CDN first prize cheque. Smith move up 26 spots after posting a net gain of 23.006 points improving upon their best 3 results so far this season, ranking 68th overall with 60.277 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Smith ranks 37th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 26.733 points earned so far this season.
