In their opening game, Carpenter defeated Bryan Yamada (Kamloops, BC) 10-6, then went on to lose 6-3 against Dawson Ballard (Coquitlam, BC). Carpenter responded with a 6-2 win over Nicholas Umbach (Langley, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
