To advance to the championship game, van Amsterdam won 7-2 over Nathan Molberg (St. Albert, AB) in the semifinals of the 2018 Curlers Corner Mens U21 Bonspiel in Calgary, Alberta; and won 8-3 over Andrew Manson (Airdrie, AB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2018 Curlers Corner Mens U21 Bonspiel in Calgary, Alberta;
 
van Amsterdam finished 1-1 in the 14-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, van Amsterdam defeated Desmond Young (Airdrie, AB) 5-4, then went on to lose 8-6 against Parent in their final qualifying round match.
