Howard finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Howard defeated 's Rylan Hartley 8-1, then won 9-4 against 's Paul Moffatt and 8-1 against John Willsey (Waterloo, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the NISSAN Curling Classic Championship title, Howard earned 30.464 world rankings points along with the $5,000CDN first prize cheque.
