Ross Paterson (Glasgow, SCO) finished 5-1 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Paterson defeated Xiu Yue Ma (Beijing, CHN) 6-3, then won 5-4 against Steffen Walstad (Oppdal, NOR) and 5-4 against Matt Dunstone (Regina, CAN). Paterson won 7-6 against Ma, then won 8-4 against Walstad. Paterson went on to lose 5-3 against Dunstone in their final qualifying round match.
