John Shuster (Duluth, USA) finished 3-3 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Shuster defeated Matt Dunstone (Regina, CAN) 7-6, then won 7-3 against Qiang Zou (Beijing, CHN). Shuster went on to lose 5-2 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE). Shuster lost 5-2 to Dunstone. Shuster lost 6-3 to Zou where Shuster responded with a 6-4 win over Edin in their final qualifying round match.
