Shen lost 11-4 to SooHyuk Kim (Seoul, KOR) where Shen responded with a 10-3 win over Jay Merchant (Sydney, AUS). Shen won 8-3 against Jason Chang (Hong Kong, HKG). Shen went on to lose 6-5 against Yuta Matsumura (Sapporo, JPN). Shen responded with a 7-4 win over Scott Becker (Naseby, NZL) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Shen earned 5.344 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 162 spots the World Ranking Standings into 278th place overall with 6.387 total points. Shen ranks 199th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 5.344 points earned so far this season.
