Crete finished 3-0 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Crete defeated Benoit Gagne (Montreal, QC) 5-2, then won 9-6 against Frederic Lawton (Montreal, QC) and 8-7 against Steven Munroe (Levis, QC) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Vic Open Assurances Jean Gamache Championship title, Crete earned 16.893 world rankings points along with the $1,600CDN first prize cheque, moving up 13 spots the World Ranking Standings into 57th place overall with 76.485 total points.
