James Ballance (Okotoks, AB) is set to play Kenan Wipf (Calgary, AB) in the Final of the Cochrane U18 Junior Mens Spiel, held November 30 - December 2, 2018 in Cochrane, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Ballance won 8-4 over Tommy Waite (Calgary, AB) in the semifinals
 
Ballance finished 2-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ballance defeated Max Kruger (Cochrane, AB) 14-0, then went on to lose 9-1 against Owen Maxwell (Calgary, AB). Ballance responded with a 4-3 win over Chris Louie (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
