James Ballance (Okotoks, AB) is set to play Kenan Wipf (Calgary, AB) in the Final of the Cochrane U18 Junior Mens Spiel, held November 30 - December 2, 2018 in Cochrane, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Ballance won 8-4 over Tommy Waite (Calgary, AB) in the semifinals

Ballance finished 2-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ballance defeated Max Kruger (Cochrane, AB) 14-0, then went on to lose 9-1 against Owen Maxwell (Calgary, AB). Ballance responded with a 4-3 win over Chris Louie (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

. For week 16 of the event schedule, Ballance did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Ballance ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
