Edward Scimia (Bridgeport, CT) is set to play Ivaylo Petrov (Plainfield, NJ) in the Final of the GNCC Club Playdowns, held December 6 - 9, 2018 in Rochester, New York. To advance to the championship game, Scimia won 10-1 over Benj Guzman (Wayland, MA) in the semifinals of the 2018 GNCC Club Playdowns in Rochester, New York;
 
Scimia finished 3-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Scimia defeated Brian Dauernheim (Potomac, MD) 6-2, then won 7-3 against Gert Messing (Schenectady, NY). Scimia went on to lose 9-4 against Calvin Weber (Potomac, MD). Scimia lost 10-6 to Petrov where Scimia responded with a 8-7 win over Bret Sentiwany (Albany, NY) in their final qualifying round match.
 
. For week of the event schedule, Scimia did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Scimia ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
