Kim won 10-5 against Borys Jasiecki (Sopot, POL), then won 9-0 against Ian Palangio (Sydney, AUS). Kim went on to lose 9-6 against Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED). Kim responded with a 8-6 win over Andrew Reed (Kent, ENG) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Men's World Qualification Event Championship title, Kim earned 13.500 world rankings points. Kim move up 13 spots after posting a net gain of 12.212 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 44th overall with 86.823 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Kim ranks 43rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 85.535 points earned so far this season.
