Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR) finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ulsrud defeated Stein Erik Johansen (Lillehammer, NOR) 10-5, then won 9-5 against Tormod Andreassen (Risenga, NOR) and 14-3 against Eskil Eriksen (Trondheim, NOR) in their final qualifying round match.
