Masaki Iwai (Sapporo, JPN) run at the 2019 ZEN-NOH Japan Curling Championships came to an end in the semifinals with a 8-7 loss to Junpei Kanda (Tokyo, JPN).  of the 2019 ZEN-NOH Japan Curling Championships in Sapporo, Japan; 
 
Iwai finished 7-1 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Iwai lost 5-3 to Hayato Matsumura (Karuizawa, JPN), then responded with a 10-3 win over Tomonori Matsuzawa (Sapporo, JPN). Iwai won 8-4 against Daiki Shikano (Sapporo, JPN), then won 13-3 against Yasuhiro Morita (Kyoto, JPN) and 13-6 against Naomasa Takeda (Sapporo, JPN). Iwai won 8-1 against Juon Ishimura (Aomori, JPN), then won 4-3 against Yuta Matsumura (Sapporo, JPN) and 9-6 against Kanda in their final qualifying round match.
 
Iwai earned 11.776 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the ZEN-NOH Japan Curling Championships, moving up 27 spots the World Ranking Standings into 83rd place overall with 47.440 total points. Iwai ranks 83rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 47.440 points earned so far this season.
