In their opening game, Neilson lost 5-4 to Switzerland's Raymond Pfyffer, droppimg another game, 8-7 to Polina Rozkova (Riga, LAT) where Neilson responded with a 9-7 win over Germany's Christiane Putzich. Neilson won 7-4 against Lorentsen, then won 7-6 against Jinho Cha (Seoul, KOR). Neilson went on to lose 7-3 against Wang. Neilson responded with a 7-6 win over Steve Emt (Madison, USA). Neilson went on to lose 9-5 against Duris. Neilson responded with a 5-4 win over Andrey Smirnov (Moscow, RUS). Neilson won 9-3 against Viljar Villiste (Tallinn, EST), then won 5-3 against Canada's Mark Ideson in their final qualifying round match.
