Lou Nowlan (Summerside, PEI) finished 4-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Nowlan defeated Peter Myers (Saint John, NB) 8-2, then went on to lose 8-5 against Bill Hope (Cornwall, PEI). Nowlan responded with a 7-6 win over Bob Sherrard (Rothesay, NB). Nowlan won 9-2 against Ed Comeau (Meteghan, NS), then won 7-6 against Gary Mitchell (Saint John, NB) in their final qualifying round match.
