Misaki Tanaka (Aomori, JPN) finished 2-2 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Tanaka lost 6-4 to Mayu Minami (Sapporo, JPN), then responded with a 8-2 win over Miki Hayashi (Sapporo, JPN). Tanaka won 13-1 against Yuri Suzuki (Obihiro, JPN). Tanaka went on to lose 5-3 against Asuka Kanai (Nagano, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Obihiro ICE Gold Cup Championship title, Tanaka earned 8.923 world rankings points along with the $6,016CDN first prize cheque, moving up 69 spots the World Ranking Standings into 155th place overall with 11.063 total points. Tanaka ranks 46th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 8.923 points earned so far this season.
