Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) lost 7-4 to Yuta Matsumura (Kitami, JPN) in the Final of the Karuizawa International, held December 19 - 22, 2019 in Karuizawa, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Edin won 7-6 over John Shuster (Duluth, USA) in the semifinals   of the 2019 Karuizawa International in Karuizawa, Japan; and won 6-2 over Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi (Nagano, JPN) in the quarterfinals.  of the 2019 Karuizawa International in Karuizawa, Japan; 
 
Edin finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Edin defeated Naomasa Takeda (Nayoro, JPN) 5-2, then went on to lose 6-3 against Matsumura. Edin responded with a 10-0 win over Shingo Usui (Kitami, JPN). Edin won 10-3 against Ryo Ogihara (Karuizawa, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Karuizawa International, Edin take home 26.428 world rankings points along with the $9,617CDN prize, remaining in 5th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 446.807 total points. Edin ranks 3rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 281.802 points earned so far this season.
