Japan's Ryo Aoki finished 3-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Japan's Ryo Aoki defeated British Columbia's Preston Ballard 1-0, then won 5-3 against Hungary's Dawson Ballard and 6-5 against British Columbia's Johnson Tao. Japan's Ryo Aoki went on to lose 9-4 against British Columbia's Erik Colwell in their final qualifying round match.
