Sam Mooibroek (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON) finished 5-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mooibroek defeated Nathan Young (Ottawa, ON) 8-2, then went on to lose 6-2 against Yves Wagenseil (Bern, SUI). Mooibroek responded with a 7-1 win over Quebec's Greg Cheal. Mooibroek won 6-5 against Jacques Gauthier (Winnipeg, MB), then won 5-4 against Jayden King (Kingston, ON) and 8-3 against Chase Sinnett (Chaska, USA) in their final qualifying round match.
