To advance to the championship game, Kim won 9-3 over Yeong Seok Jeong (Gyeonggido, KOR) in the semifinals   of the 2020 Korean National Championship in ; 
 
Kim finished 5-1 in the 7-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kim defeated JaeBeom Lee (Seoul, KOR) 6-5, then won 9-2 against Sangwoo Park (Uijeongbu, KOR) and 13-3 against Jin-wook Lee (Busan, KOR). Kim won 7-5 against TaeWoong Shin (Incheon, KOR), then won 7-2 against Jeong. Kim went on to lose 8-6 against Kim in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Korean National Championship, Kim take home 9.405 world rankings points. Kim gained 99.242 points improving upon their best 2 events, though dropped 33 spots on the World Ranking Standings into 33rdplace overall with 99.242 total points.
