Aleksandr Burdakov (Moscow, RUS) qualified for the 2020 Moscow Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 9-1 against Mikhail Vaskov (Dmitrov, RUS).

Burdakov finished 2-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Burdakov defeated Russia's German Doronin 8-5, then went on to lose 8-2 against Alexey Timofeev (St. Petersburg, RUS).
