Alina Kovaleva (Saint-Petersburg , RUS) won 4-3 over Corryn Brown (Kamloops, BC) in the Final of the China Open, held December 13 - 17, 2019 in Tianjin, China. To advance to the championship game, Kovaleva won 5-3 over EunJung Kim (Uiseong, KOR) in the semifinals
 
Kovaleva finished 6-1 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kovaleva defeated Asuka Kanai (Nagano, JPN) 9-3, then won 8-3 against Madison Bear (St.Paul, MN). Kovaleva went on to lose 9-4 against Kim. Kovaleva responded with a 6-3 win over Irene Schori (Limmattal, SUI). Kovaleva won 6-1 against Brown, then won 6-2 against Yu Han (Beijing, CHN) and 7-5 against Daniela Jentsch (Fuessen, GER) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the China Open Championship title, Kovaleva earned 35.227 world rankings points along with the $8,122CDN first prize cheque. Kovaleva move up 5 spots after posting a net gain of 21.392 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 13th overall with 247.566 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Kovaleva ranks 11th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 192.226 points earned so far this season.
