Ross Paterson (Glasgow, SCO) lost 6-5 to Yannick Schwaller (Bern, SUI) in the Final of the Aberdeen International Curling Championship, held March 12 - 15, 2020 in Aberdeen, Scotland. To advance to the championship game, Paterson won 5-4 over Ross Whyte (Stirling, SCO) in the semifinals of the 2020 Aberdeen International Curling Championship in Aberdeen, Scotland; and won 6-4 over Magnus Ramsfjell (Trondheim, NOR) in the quarterfinals. of the 2020 Aberdeen International Curling Championship in Aberdeen, Scotland;
 
Paterson finished 4-1 in the 17-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Paterson lost 6-4 to Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED), then responded with a 5-4 win over Qiang Zou (Beijing, CHN). Paterson won 7-5 against Hamish Gallacher (Dumfries, SCO), then won 7-0 against Marc Muskatewitz (Fuessen, GER) and 7-6 against Cameron Bryce (Stirling, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
