Junpei Kanda (Tokyo, JPN) lost 4-2 to Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi (Nagano, JPN) in the Final of the Keijinkai Rizing Cup, held January 11 - 13, 2020 in Miyota, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Kanda won 7-5 over Takuya Ishikawa (Tokyo, JPN) in the semifinals

Kanda are currently 3-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kanda lost 6-1 to Tomoya Watanabe (Tokyo, JPN), then responded with a 7-3 win over Ryo Wakabayashi (Osaka, JPN). Kanda won 6-0 against Ryo Ogihara (Karuizawa, JPN), then won 4-3 against Ken Kanai (Yamanashi, JPN). In their next game, Kanda plays.

With their runner-up finish at the Keijinkai Rizing Cup, Kanda take home 8.340 world rankings points along with the $2,967CDN prize.
