Rhonda Varnes/Andrew Hodgson (Edmonton, AB) finished 2-3 in the 13-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Varnes/Hodgson defeated Kayla Skrlik/Gregg Hamilton (Calgary, AB) 9-7, then went on to lose 11-8 against Paige Papley/Evan van Amsterdam (Edmonton, AB). Varnes/Hodgson lost 8-2 to Christa Perepelitza/Rodney Ouellette (Cold Lake, AB) where Varnes/Hodgson responded with a 6-1 win over Alberta's Donna Gingras/Charles Michaud. Varnes/Hodgson went on to lose 8-7 against Jamie Scott/Michael Henricks (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

Varnes/Hodgson earned 1.129 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 668th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 1.13 after improving upon their best so far this season. Varnes/Hodgson ranks 271st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 1.537 points earned so far this season.
