In their opening game, Spielman lost 7-3 to Dominik Maerki (Fayetteville, AR), droppimg another game, 7-3 to Steven Birklid (Mountlake Terrace, WA) where Spielman responded with a 9-3 win over Jason Smith (St. Paul, MN). Spielman won 9-5 against Brandon Corbett (Rochester, NY). Spielman went on to lose 7-3 against Chase Sinnett (Medfield, MA) in their final qualifying round match.
