In their opening game, Sluchinski defeated Trevor Calvert (Indus, AB) 7-6, then won 8-3 against Warren Kozak (Calgary, AB) and 7-2 against Rick Phillips (Red Deer, AB). Sluchinski won 8-6 against Rhett Friesz (Airdrie, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
