Jason Roach (Saint John, NB) finished 3-0 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Roach defeated Christopher McCann (Fredericton Junction, NB) 11-4, then won 8-5 against Rene Comeau (Saint John, NB) and 12-8 against Dave Konefal (Nackawic, NB) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the New Brunswick Tankard Prelims Championship title, Roach earned 8.239 world rankings points.
