To advance to the championship game, Bottcher won 8-5 over Ted Appelman (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2020 Alberta Boston Pizza Cup in Westlock, Alberta;
 
Bottcher finished 4-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Bottcher defeated Jacob Libbus (Edmonton, AB) 10-5, then won 9-2 against Scott Webb (Peace River, AB) and 10-7 against James Pahl (Edmonton, AB). Bottcher won 9-1 against Kevin Park (Strathmore, AB). Bottcher went on to lose 8-6 against Appelman in their final qualifying round match.
