Kim finished 4-0 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kim defeated Ted Appelman (Edmonton, AB) 7-3, then won 10-4 against Glen Hansen (Edmonton, AB) and 5-4 against Rob Maksymetz (Grande Prairie, AB). Kim won 6-2 against Michael Dahms (Airdrie, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Alberta Curling Series: Avonair Championship title, Kim earned 16.116 world rankings points along with the $2,042CDN first prize cheque, moving up 11 spots the World Ranking Standings into 35th place overall with 69.138 total points. Kim ranks 22nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 22.700 points earned so far this season.
