Johnson Tao (Edmonton, AB) lost 7-2 to SooHyuk Kim (Uiseong, KOR) in the Final of the Alberta Curling Series: Avonair, held October 1 - 3, 2021 at the Avonair Curling Club in Edmonton, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Tao won 5-2 over Evan van Amsterdam (Calgary, AB) in the semifinals of the 2021 Alberta Curling Series: Avonair in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada;

Tao finished 3-1 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Tao defeated Warren Cross (Edmonton, AB) 8-2, then won 6-1 against van Amsterdam and 7-6 against Ryan Jacques (Edmonton, AB). Tao went on to lose 8-5 against Scott Webb (Grande Prairie, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Alberta Curling Series: Avonair, Tao take home 11.818 world rankings points along with the $1,480CDN prize. For week 10 of the event schedule, Tao did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points.
