To advance to the championship game, Sturmay won 9-5 over Unchi Gim (Uijeongbu, KOR) in the semifinals of the 2021 Alberta Curling Series: Avonair in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada;
 
Sturmay finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sturmay defeated Shiella Cowan (Vancouver, BC) 8-1, then won 7-3 against Jessica Wytrychowski (Airdrie, AB) and 6-4 against Pam Appelman (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Alberta Curling Series: Avonair, Sturmay take home 16.452 world rankings points along with the $1,804CDN prize. Sturmay move up 18 spots after posting a net gain of 14.017 points improving upon their best 2 results so far this season, ranking 60th overall with 34.813 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
