Ruohonen finished 3-1 in the 13-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ruohonen defeated Connor Kauffman (Blaine, MN) 9-3, then went on to lose 5-4 against Jed Brundidge (East St. Paul, MN). Ruohonen responded with a 7-3 win over Luc Violette (Chaska, MN). Ruohonen won 7-2 against Patrick Connolly (Pittsburgh, PA) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Curl Mesabi Classic Championship title, Ruohonen earned 25.880 world rankings points along with the $5,178CDN first prize cheque.
