Hritzuk finished 5-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hritzuk defeated Rick Valette (Shellbrook, SK) 8-1, then won 4-3 against Ewen and 6-3 against Vic Rogers (Regina, SK) to advance to a A-Qualifier game where they lost 6-4 against Ron Mills (Saskatoon, SK). Hritzuk lost 8-7 to Mark Dacey (Saskatoon, SK) where Hritzuk responded with a 8-6 win over Peja Lindholm (Ostersund, SWE) to advance to the C-Qualifier where they 8-3 against Gary Scheirich (Saskatoon, SK) to advance to the playoff round. in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Royal Auto Labatt's Classic Championship title, Hritzuk earned 0.000 world rankings points along with the $38,000CDN first prize cheque.
