Kim won 10-3 against Woo Jin Yang (Uijeongbu, KOR), then won 9-4 against Jongduk Park (Gangwondo, KOR). Kim went on to lose 11-3 against Chang-Min Kim (Uiseong, KOR). Kim responded with a 13-1 win over Yang in their final qualifying round match.
