To advance to the championship game, Whyte won 9-6 over Ross Paterson (Glasgow, SCO) in the semifinals of the 2021 British Curling NCA January Challenge in Stirling, Scotland;
 
Whyte finished 3-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Whyte defeated James Craik (Aberdeen, SCO) 7-3, then won 9-2 against Cameron Bryce (Stirling, SCO) and 8-6 against Paterson. Whyte went on to lose 6-1 against Mouat in their final qualifying round match.
