Takumi Maeda (Kitami, JPN) lost 9-7 to Yuta Matsumura (Kitami, JPN) in the Final of the Japan Curling Championships, held February 8 - 14, 2021 in Wakkanai, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Maeda won 8-5 over Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) in the semifinals of the 2021 Japan Curling Championships in Wakkanai, Japan;
 
Maeda finished 4-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Maeda defeated Ryutaro Tani (Tokyo, JPN) 7-6, then went on to lose 9-2 against Matsumura. Maeda responded with a 8-2 win over Kenji Tomabechi (Iwate, JPN). Maeda won 9-4 against Hiroki Yoshioka (Okayama, JPN). Maeda went on to lose 8-7 against Morozumi. Maeda responded with a 8-5 win over Matsumura in their final qualifying round match.
