Sturmay finished 4-0 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sturmay defeated Nathan Molberg (St. Albert, AB) 8-3, then won 2-1 against Michael Dahms (Airdrie, AB) and 6-5 against Rob Maksymetz (Grande Prairie, AB). Sturmay won 6-2 against Jacob Libbus (Okotoks, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
