Powell finished 3-1 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Powell defeated Ryan Norman (Grande Prairie, AB) 7-4, then won 6-5 against Scott Webb (Grande Prairie, AB). Powell went on to lose 6-4 against Jeff Ginter (Dawson Creek, BC). Powell responded with a 7-5 win over Schnider in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Mile Zero Cash Spiel Championship title, Powell earned 11.072 world rankings points along with the $3,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 85 spots the World Ranking Standings into 171st place overall with 15.928 total points. Powell ranks 145th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 11.784 points earned so far this season.
