In their opening game, Calvert lost 8-6 to Tyler Tardi (Langley, BC), droppimg another game, 3-2 to Colton Flasch (Saskatoon, SK) where Calvert responded with a 8-3 win over Paul Flemming (Halifax, NS). Calvert won 9-7 against Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB). Calvert went on to lose 10-4 against Pat Ferris (Grimsby, ON). Calvert lost 6-4 to Glenn Howard (Penetanguishene, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

Calvert earned 4.183 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. Calvert move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 16.061 points improving upon their best 3 results so far this season, ranking 20th overall with 151.035 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
