Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton, AB) finished 2-4 in the 14-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sturmay defeated Michael Fournier (Montreal, QC) 8-6, then went on to lose 12-7 against Jason Gunnlaugson (Winnipeg, MB). Sturmay lost 12-1 to Tanner Horgan (Kingston, ON) where Sturmay responded with a 7-4 win over Jeremy Harty (Calgary, AB). Sturmay went on to lose 10-1 against Pat Simmons (Winnipeg, MB). Sturmay lost 10-6 to Vincent Roberge (Etchemin, QC) in their final qualifying round match.

Sturmay earned 4.183 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. Sturmay gained 9.281 points improving upon their best 3 events, though dropped 2 spots on the World Ranking Standings into 28thplace overall with 116.540 total points. Sturmay ranks 27th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 51.542 points earned so far this season.
