In their opening game, Waddell lost 5-2 to Glenn Howard (Penetanguishene, ON), then responded with a 7-0 win over Tanner Horgan (Kingston, ON). Waddell won 7-2 against Sixten Totzek (Munich, GER), then won 6-0 against John Epping (Toronto, ON) to advance to a B-Qualifier game where they lost 5-3 against Ross Whyte (Stirling, SCO) to drop into a C-Qualifier game where they lost 8-1 to Howard in their final qualifying round match.

Waddell earned 10.573 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, dropping 2 spots on the World Ranking Standings into 14th place overall with 132.732 total points. Waddell ranks 15th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 10.573 points earned so far this season.
