Joel Retornaz (Pinerolo, ITA) lost 5-4 to Steffen Walstad (Oslo, NOR) in the Final of the Curling Masters Champery, held October 14 - 17, 2021 in Champery, Switzerland. To advance to the championship game, Retornaz won 5-3 over Yannick Schwaller (Bern, SUI) in the semifinals of the 2021 Curling Masters Champery in Champery, Switzerland; and won 6-4 over Marco Hoesli (Glarus, SUI) in the quarterfinals.

Retornaz finished 5-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Retornaz defeated Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED) 7-1, then won 4-3 against James Craik (Stirling, SCO) and 10-1 against Raphael Moix (Morges, SUI). Retornaz won 9-3 against Cameron Bryce (Stirling, SCO), then won 7-3 against Hoesli in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Curling Masters Champery, Retornaz take home 29.955 world rankings points along with the $9,380CDN prize, moving up 9 spots the World Ranking Standings into 28th place overall with 100.248 total points. Retornaz ranks 32nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 35.075 points earned so far this season.
