To advance to the championship game, Hartung won 7-5 over Jason Jacobson (Saskatoon, SK) in the semifinals of the 2021 SCT Sutherland in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and won 5-4 over Steven Howard (Regina, SK) in the quarterfinals.
 
Hartung finished 2-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hartung defeated Shawn Joyce (Saskatoon, SK) 9-3, then won 8-1 against Dallan Muyres (Fox Valley, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the SCT Sutherland Championship title, Hartung earned 18.527 world rankings points along with the $1,650CDN first prize cheque, moving up 28 spots the World Ranking Standings into 49th place overall with 51.168 total points. Hartung ranks 31st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 18.527 points earned so far this season.
