Kleiter finished 4-1 in the 26-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kleiter defeated Bernath 7-3, then won 6-5 against Brayden Heistad (Saskatoon, SK) and 7-2 against Shawn Joyce (Saskatoon, SK). Kleiter went on to lose 9-8 against Jesse St. John (Swift Current, SK). Kleiter responded with a 5-4 win over Matthew Drewitz (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
