7-6 to Matt Dunstone (Regina, SK), then responded with a 8-4 win over Marco Hoesli (Glarus, SUI). Whyte won 6-4 against Scott Howard (Penetanguishene, ON). Whyte went on to lose 5-3 against Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB). Whyte lost 6-3 to Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste. Marie, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Whyte earned 9.204 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 12th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 1.524 after improving upon their best so far this season. Whyte ranks 12th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 202.721 points earned so far this season.
