In their opening game, Dunstone lost 9-5 to Glenn Howard (Penetanguishene, ON), then responded with a 8-5 win over Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB). Dunstone won 8-4 against Colton Flasch (Saskatoon, SK), then won 7-3 against Jason Gunnlaugson (Winnipeg, MB) and 6-5 against Gunnlaugson. Dunstone won 8-6 against Howard in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Canadian Curling Trials Direct-Entry Event Championship title, Dunstone earned 16.219 world rankings points, remaining in 7th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 183.519 total points. Dunstone ranks 3rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 56.163 points earned so far this season.
