Matsumura2-4 at 2021 Olympic Mixed Doubles Qualification Event

Chiaki Matsumura (Nagano, JPN) finished 2-4 in the 14-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Matsumura lost 8-6 to Vicky Persinger (Fairbanks, USA), then responded with a 8-2 win over Daina Barone (Riga, LAT). Matsumura went on to lose 7-4 against Minji Kim (Gangwon-do, KOR). Matsumura lost 8-2 to Marie Kaldvee (Tallinn, EST) where Matsumura responded with a 9-5 win over Mhairi-Bronte Duncan (Naseby, NZL). Matsumura went on to lose 9-8 against Oona Kauste (Hyvinkaa, FIN) in their final qualifying round match.

Matsumura earned 6.220 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 778th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 6.220 total points. Matsumura ranks 159th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 6.220 points earned so far this season.
